What Can You Do About Calluses?

Have you taken a close look at your feet lately? Have you noticed that the skin looks a little hard? If it is then you may have a callus. But what is a callus and more importantly how can you get rid of it. A callus is basically dead skin cells that have accumulated in specific areas of your foot. It is usually located on the bottom of your food where the most pressure is applied. It is actually your body's way of protecting your foot against this pressure.
The most common are where a callus will show up is on the heel of your foot, although it can appear anywhere on the bottom of the foot. A callus that is located in the middle of your foot can definitely be a lot more painful than the others. If it is a bad callus you may find it very difficult to walk or apply pressure to this area of the foot. But what causes calluses? There are actually a number of things that can contribute to a calluses, such as wearing shoes that have too high of heel, wearing shoes that are too tight, flat feet. Did you know that calluses can also be caused by being overweight? Too much weight can cause a lot of pressure to be placed on the foot.
If you think that you may have a callus on your foot it is very important that you get it treated right away. First you will need to visit a doctor or a specialist. Your doctor should be able to send you to a doctor who specializes in this area. They will be able to reduce the amount of pressure that is being placed on your foot. You doctor will be able to tell you what caused the problem and how to prevent it in the future. There are some products that can give you immediate relief such as specially made insoles. All you have to do is put them in your shoes and they will give you the relief that you need. Your doctor should be able to recommend a product for you to use to help alleviate the problem. A callus can really be more of a nuisance than anything else. But the sooner that you are able to get the problem taken care of the better your feet will feel.
